No i'm not having problems with my shapes. 
The odd shaped vase is a silver pomegranate, and is highly reflective, which of course is why I bought it. Painting reflective objects is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, at first it doesn't make sense but as each piece is put in place the big picture emerges.
